Give me an opinion, win a prize!

So, I've been doing a little experimenting the last couple weeks. For quite a while I've wanted to try drilling holes in my glass pendants and then create wire bails for them. I think the look is a bit classier than the glue-on bails I've been using.

I have discovered that drilling holes in glass is not at all easy. It's definitely going to take me a bit of practice to perfect that. But I will get it perfected I'm sure. I'm almost there. :)

So what do I need opinions on? I've tried three different wire bail styles and I'd love some input on which you like best. I may use more than one style. Heck I may use all three. But it would be awesome to know if one is more visually appealing than the others.

So here they are. Please leave me a comment and let me know which number(s) you like and why. To make it more fun, everyone who leaves a comment will be eligible to win a $10 gift certificate to my shop, so make sure you leave a way to contact you (I'll do a random drawing July 1st).

#3, definitely #3

I go back & forth between #1 & #3. But I think #3 is more appealing. To drill glass, put it in a tub of water with another piece of glass underneath, to help the chip out on the back side, start your drill/dremel at a slight angle, then when you get a small start/notch, straighten up your drill. Go slow and easy. It just takes a while. Although as many as I've done, it's still nerve-wracking to me. :)

Thanks for the tips Kay! I've been doing most of that, but using a peice of wood underneath instead of glass. I'll try that to see if it makes a difference. :)

I'd go with #1 myself, but #3 has a simple appeal to it.

#3 is my personal favorite; though all are nice. To me they are different styles, and each treatment is right for different final products.

#3 to me is more arty, detailed, different

#2 is more rustic, more masculine

#1 is more romantic, classic a more typical look

HTH, but just my opinion

Best wishes as you continue the adventure

#1 is my choice with #3 a close second.

I like the added bead in #1, adds more interest.

It's a tough choice, but after careful consideration I think #3 is the best.

I like option # 1 - but then I kept scrolling and found option # 3 appealing. So I think they're a tie - so if I win, I suppose that only gets me $5 :-] - ha!

I like #2 A LOT! I think it's very unusual and more interesting than others.

#3 is my favorite, but they are all attractive. I think three looks more creative and unusual. Be well

Oh gosh! When you said make your own, I didn't expect them to be so beautiful and unique! I think all three are fantastic. If I HAD to choose just one, I would probably go with the #3, though I think you could use all three based on the piece you create. #1 is more dressy, #2 is simple/modern, and #3 falls somewhere in between. If I had to choose one right now, I would go with #3.

I like style #1. I think the additional bead gives an extra accent to the piece it's connected to.

Toni- I like them all, but especially #3. Unfortunately it also looks like the most intricate!

I like #1. It looks more like a piece of the jewelery itself whereas the other two look like wire that needs to be there (which it is. but still...)

I like both #1 and #3. I like #3 the best. It's cool and unique looking. #1 is beautiful, makes it look more like part of the jewelry, although I think it would all depend on the pendant used. It could take away from a very detailed/elaborate pendant or could add to a more simpler pendant.

I love #3 the best because it looks much more sophisticated and classy than the others!

Think I'd go with number 2. IT looks smooth. the other two look like they may scratch the skin or be annoying. I wouldn't go with 1 because of the added bead...you can only use it on pieces that wouldn't compete with the colored bead. I have a picture in my head of another kind that would look classier...simple; you don't want it to detract from the pendant itself.

I like all 3 styles but my favourite is number 1 I think it is the prettiest of all 3.Greetings from canada.Marian

I really like number 1 best- it looks like it would be smoothest to the touch, the bead could be changed out, or done without...it just seems like both the most versatile and the most practical. All things being equal, if I were torn between two pieces I otherwise wanted equally, I'd go with the one that had the number 1 bail...maybe even if I didn't like it as much.

I, like everybody else, am torn between 1 and 3 - but ultimately will go with 3. I think 1 would be appropriate for something more frou-frou and girly because of the bead. I like #3 because for whatever reason, it looks like two little hands pulling something apart and it looks the sturdiest. #2 seems as if it would wobble back and forth a lot. Overall, #3 is a winner because it can go from either very girly to very modern so it is versatile and it looks as if it would be the sturdiest.

I like #1. I love the extra little color that the bead gives and looks more like a piece of jewelry. It looks like from the other comments that you have 2 good styles to use! Thanks for letting me put my two cents in.

I think number 2 loop is a little fragile, so it leaves me to #1 and #3. Both are sturdy, I think, made to last. Aesthetically speaking I'll go with #1, but frankly I think whatever type depends on the design as a whole.

The #3 is the best, although the #1 is still really pretty. #3 has a simple elegance to it.

so, I like all of them. I think #1 would be great on a more plain pendant, with that extra jewel it adds interest. I like #3 the best overall. I love the circle shape it makes and it's very nice. Hope this helps :)
